Algiers is the only Orleans Parish neighborhood on the Mississippi’s West Bank. A stall at Algiers Point is not a Gretna job, and a City impound from Algiers does not go to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff. Report the corridor, the river crossing, and the parish before anyone hooks up.
Gretna sits next door in Jefferson Parish and already has its own breakdown notes. This page is Algiers. Use the Algiers city hub for the area map.
Start with the Point, General Meyer, or the bridge
Name the pavement. “West Bank” is not an address.
Algiers Point
The Point is dense: shotgun-house streets, the ferry landing, and tight parking. Report the street and the cross street. Say if you are parallel parked between two other cars. A wheel-lift may fit. A blocked curb or a car that will not roll may not. If you stalled near the Canal Street Ferry landing, name the landing. The ferry is not a tow destination.
General Meyer Avenue and Behrman Highway
General Meyer and Behrman are the everyday commercial spine. Report the numbered block or a cross street. Say if you are in a travel lane, a lot, or a driveway. General DeGaulle is a different corridor. Name which one you can see.
Crescent City Connection approach
Every East Bank run from Algiers goes over the CCC or a longer upriver crossing. If you stalled on the approach, say which side of the river you are on and which way you were headed. An Algiers pickup with an Uptown drop-off is a bridge run. An Algiers pickup with a West Bank shop is not. Say that out loud.
If you are in a live lane on the bridge, call 911. MAP’s listed New Orleans interstate routes do not replace an Algiers city-street call.
Decide whether roadside help may fit
A dead battery, an empty tank, or a flat with a usable spare is often roadside assistance. A car that will not roll, will not shift, or has taken on water needs a tow. Algiers sits on higher ground than much of the East Bank, so flood calls run lighter here. If the engine ingested water anyway, say so.
If the City towed the car, this is still Orleans Parish. Call (504) 658-8100 and use Find My Towed Vehicle. Payments go to 400 N. Claiborne Ave on the East Bank. Vehicles stored more than 24 hours may move to 10200 Almonaster Ave. Confirm pickup with the City. Do not drive to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office at 1233 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, unless Jefferson Parish is the agency that took the car.
If you have a motor club or a towing endorsement, call that number first.
Choose a destination and name the parish
Name a drop-off before the truck moves the car. An Algiers driveway, a shop on General Meyer, or a lot you have already called is enough. “Take it across the river” is a different quote than a drop on the Point.
You choose the destination on a consented breakdown. If a police officer arranges the tow, Louisiana treats that as a non-consensual tow even when you asked the officer for help. Non-consensual work is rate-capped by the Louisiana Public Service Commission. Those caps are not a quote for a job you book yourself.
Our published light-duty hookup is $95. Confirm mileage and any bridge run before the operator rolls.
What to confirm with the matched operator
Quick Tow New Orleans matches you with a licensed independent operator. We do not run the truck, the yard, or the bill.
Say this on the call, in this order:
- You are in Algiers, Orleans Parish, West Bank.
- Algiers Point, General Meyer, Behrman, General DeGaulle, or the CCC approach, plus a cross street.
- Year, make, model, color, and whether you have keys.
- What failed, and whether the car rolls or shifts to neutral.
- The exact drop-off, including which side of the river and which parish.
- Whether anyone is still with the car.
Ask which truck they are sending. Tight Point streets often need a flatbed. The line takes calls 24/7. Calls to (504) 474-5530 are recorded.
When to call us
Call when the car cannot stay on an Algiers street or the CCC approach, and you need a licensed operator to move it to an address you name. Report the parish. Algiers is Orleans, not Jefferson. Call (504) 474-5530.
