Is private property towing legal in Louisiana?

Yes, when done right. Louisiana law requires a written agreement between property owner and tow company, compliant signage at every entry with lettering at least 2 inches tall naming the company, address, and phone number, and itemized billing invoices. All fees for nonconsensual tows from private property must be uniform and set according to Louisiana Public Service Commission rules, and a licensed operator may not charge outside that schedule. The City of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish layer additional local rules on top. The agreement and the signage audit get handled in writing before any patrol starts.

Do you work with HOAs?

Yes. HOAs are the most common private-property caller on this line. The operator audits the existing signage, works the parking rules through with the board, and sets a patrol schedule that fits the community. Board members do not make the tow call - the operator does, per the agreed rules. That keeps the board out of personal liability.

Can I call to tow a specific car in my lot?

If there is a signed property management agreement, yes. The property manager (or a designated contact) calls, confirms the vehicle and the violation, and the operator responds. Without an agreement on file, no operator can legally tow from a property it does not patrol.

What if a resident forgets their permit and gets towed?

They pay the release fee at the operator's lot and get the car back, with full paperwork. It is rare - a tow only happens after the wait time and the sign check. If a resident calls in a good-faith mistake (permit left in the glove box), the operator handles the release professionally and documents the situation. Property managers can also preauthorize per-vehicle exceptions.

What if my car was already towed by the City of New Orleans, not by you?

That's a different process handled by the city's own Department of Public Works Parking Division, not us.
