A Gentilly stall on Elysian Fields is not a Lakeview Harrison Avenue job and not a Mid-City Canal Street job. Report the boulevard, the campus lot if you are in one, and an Orleans Parish drop-off before anyone hooks up.

Gentilly sits in Orleans Parish between City Park, the I-610 edge, and the approach to New Orleans East. Use the Gentilly city hub for the area map. Lakeview and Mid-City have their own breakdown scripts.

Start with Elysian Fields, Gentilly Boulevard, or I-610

Name the pavement. “Gentilly” is not an address.

Elysian Fields Avenue

Elysian Fields is the north-south spine. Report the numbered block or a cross street: Gentilly Boulevard, Filmore, Robert E. Lee. Say which side of the avenue you are on. Say if you are in a travel lane, against the curb, or in a lot.

Gentilly Boulevard

Gentilly Boulevard is the east-west commercial strip. Use the numbered block. A stall here is a different pin from a stall on a tight residential side street. If you rolled into a driveway, say so.

I-610

An interstate stall is a lane problem first. If you are in a live lane, call 911. Then report the direction, the nearest named exit or overpass, and whether you made a shoulder. I-610 along this edge is not I-10 through the East. “I-610 by Gentilly” and “I-10 at Downman” send a truck to different pavement.

Louisiana’s Motorist Assistance Patrol is a fixed-schedule patrol, not a call-out. MAP covers all of I-610 on its listed hours. It can change a flat, put about a gallon of fuel in, jump a battery, and clear a disabled car from a travel lane. It does not tow the car to a Gentilly shop. Check 511la.org for incidents.

Campus lots are a property-access problem first

Dillard, the University of New Orleans edge, and Southern University at New Orleans sit in this part of the city. If you stalled in a campus lot, name the campus, the lot, and the nearest gate. A booth or a gate arm is a property question. Ask the campus whether a wrecker may enter, and which entrance to use. We cannot invent a way through a closed arm.

A dead battery, an empty tank, or a flat with a usable spare is often roadside assistance. A car that will not roll, will not shift, or has taken on water needs a tow. Gentilly still floods in a hard rain. If the engine ingested water, say so. Do not keep cranking.

If the City towed the car, call (504) 658-8100 and use Find My Towed Vehicle. Payments go to 400 N. Claiborne Ave. Vehicles stored more than 24 hours may move to 10200 Almonaster Ave. Confirm pickup with the City.

If you have a motor club or a towing endorsement, call that number first.

Choose an Orleans Parish destination before the car moves

Name a drop-off before the truck moves the car. A Gentilly driveway, a shop on Gentilly Boulevard, or a lot you have already called is enough. A drop in New Orleans East is a different run than a drop on Elysian Fields. Say the city and the parish out loud.

You choose the destination on a consented breakdown. If a police officer arranges the tow, Louisiana treats that as a non-consensual tow even when you asked the officer for help. Non-consensual work is rate-capped by the Louisiana Public Service Commission. Those caps are not a quote for a job you book yourself.

Our published light-duty hookup is $95. Confirm mileage before the operator rolls.

What to confirm with the matched operator

Quick Tow New Orleans matches you with a licensed independent operator. We do not run the truck, the yard, or the bill.

Say this on the call, in this order:

  1. You are in Gentilly, Orleans Parish, New Orleans.
  2. Elysian Fields, Gentilly Boulevard, I-610, or a named side street, plus a cross street.
  3. Whether you are in a campus lot, and whether a gate is involved.
  4. Year, make, model, color, and whether you have keys.
  5. What failed, and whether the car rolls or shifts to neutral.
  6. The exact drop-off address, including parish.
  7. Whether anyone is still with the car.

Ask which truck they are sending. A car that took on water may need a flatbed. The line takes calls 24/7. Calls to (504) 474-5530 are recorded.

When to call us

Call when the car cannot stay on a Gentilly block, on I-610, or in a campus lot, and you need a licensed operator to move it to an address you name. Call (504) 474-5530.
