An I-10 stall in New Orleans East is not the Metairie stretch and not the Causeway. The High Rise, Chef Menteur, Downman, and Michoud send a truck to different pavement. Report the direction, the nearest named exit, and whether you made a shoulder.

This page is the East script. The metro-wide I-10 or Causeway walkthrough covers MAP hours and Causeway Police. Use the New Orleans East city hub for the area map.

Start with High Rise, Chef Menteur, Downman, or Michoud

If you are in a live lane, call 911. Then name the corridor.

The High Rise over the Industrial Canal

The High Rise carries I-10 over the Industrial Canal with little usable shoulder and no nearby alternate crossing. If the car starts acting up as you approach it, get off at the exit before it if you can. Say whether you are eastbound or westbound, and whether you stopped on the span or on the approach.

Chef Menteur Highway

Chef Menteur is the surface-street spine under and beside I-10 through the East. A stall on Chef is a different job from a stall on the interstate. Report the numbered block or a cross street: Downman, Read, Bullard. Say if you are in a travel lane, a lot, or a service road.

Downman Road and Read Boulevard

Downman and Read are the named interchanges most callers can see. “I-10 in the East” is not an address. “Eastbound I-10 at Downman, right shoulder” is.

Michoud Boulevard

Michoud is the eastern edge of daytime MAP coverage on I-10. Past that, you are still in Orleans Parish, but the patrol window changes. The Twin Span toward Slidell is a different job. If you are on the Twin Span, say so. Do not describe it as a New Orleans East curb.

MAP coverage stops earlier at night in the East

Louisiana’s Motorist Assistance Patrol is a fixed-schedule patrol, not a call-out. Daytime coverage (5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.) on I-10 runs as far east as Michoud Boulevard. Night coverage (7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.) on I-10 only runs as far east as Morrison Road. A stall east of Morrison after 7:30 p.m. is outside that night window. MAP can change a flat, put about a gallon of fuel in, jump a battery, and clear a disabled car from a travel lane. It does not tow the car to a shop on Chef Menteur.

Check 511la.org for incidents while you wait in a safe spot.

Choose an Orleans Parish destination before the car moves

Name a drop-off before the truck moves the car. A driveway in the East, a shop on Chef Menteur, or a lot you have already called is enough. Distances run longer here than in the core city. “Just take it downtown” is a different run than a drop on Read.

Do not confuse a shop drop with the City’s Almonaster lot. Vehicles the City stores more than 24 hours may move to 10200 Almonaster Ave. That is City custody. A consented breakdown you book yourself goes to the address you name. If the City already has the car, call (504) 658-8100 and use Find My Towed Vehicle.

You choose the destination on a consented breakdown. If a police officer arranges the tow, Louisiana treats that as a non-consensual tow even when you asked the officer for help. Non-consensual work is rate-capped by the Louisiana Public Service Commission. Those caps are not a quote for a job you book yourself.

Our published light-duty hookup is $95. Confirm mileage before the operator rolls.

What to confirm with the matched operator

Quick Tow New Orleans matches you with a licensed independent operator. We do not run the truck, the yard, or the bill.

Say this on the call, in this order:

  1. You are in New Orleans East, Orleans Parish, on I-10 or Chef Menteur.
  2. Direction, nearest exit (High Rise, Downman, Read, Michoud), and whether you made a shoulder.
  3. Year, make, model, color, and whether you have keys.
  4. What failed, and whether the car rolls or shifts to neutral.
  5. The exact drop-off address, including parish.
  6. Whether anyone is still with the car.

Ask which truck they are sending. A car that will not roll may need a flatbed. The line takes calls 24/7. Calls to (504) 474-5530 are recorded.

When to call us

Call when the car cannot stay on I-10 or Chef Menteur in the East, and you need a licensed operator to move it to an address you name. If you are still in a live lane, call 911 first. Call (504) 474-5530.
